Hello!
Rebecca Sklepovich and Megan Beaudoin (that's us) are designers and developers of virtual learning experiences and online coaches for Secondary Social Studies Corps Members. We've been working together in this role for three years and enjoy connecting with corps members across the country. Rebecca was a 2006 Corps Member in New York City. She currently works for the Achievement Network in D.C., a non-profit that partners with schools to use data driven instructional practices. She has previously served as an educational consultant, a middle school social studies teacher, and a MTLD for Teach for America. Megan was a 2001 Corps Member in Chicago where she taught for 8 years. (See the photo of one of her senior classes at prom!) She has since taught for the Noble Network of Charter Schools in Chicago and currently works for The DBQ Project, an organization that makes Document Based Questions accessible to students of all skill levels. |
What We Do
|
Social Studies is a vast and exciting field. As our students delve into the past, we believe that it is important that you, as their teachers, have access to the best resources and methodology available. This website is home to our Virtual Learning Courses, including self-directed learning modules to allow busy teachers access content and create their own path of professional development at a time that best fits their schedule. These modules will offer a variety of resources that social studies educators can use to build a toolkit of educational strategies and knowledge. There will be six modules in the fall and each one will focus on a unique topic that is important to beginning teachers in the field of social studies.

Our History |
Formerly housed on TFAnet, the National Secondary Social Studies Community included over 400 members, primarily first and second year teachers that were seeking out support with social studies content and teaching methodology. Since our transition from TFAnet, we still offer the following to our corps members: monthly e-mail blasts full of resources; an organized resource library available for quick download via Google Drive; one-on-one virtual coaching, a forum for asking questions and engaging with other beginning teachers, and virtual learning sessions that are designed to further your practice as a Social Studies teacher.
